148. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the reason a person (details supplied) in County Donegal is still awaiting a decision on their student grant, their appeal was received by Student Universal Support Ireland on 25 April and a decision remains outstanding, as a result of this delay the student is prevented from accessing their fourth year exam results; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Officials in my Department have confirmed with Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) that in the case of the student referred to by the Deputy, his student grant application was appealed to the appeals officer in SUSI on the 25th of April 2013.

The appeal is currently being examined and the student will be notified directly by SUSI of the outcome in the coming days.
