1049. To ask the Minister for Health the steps that must be taken for an illness to be included on the long term illness scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27971/13]

The illnesses covered by the Long Term Illness Scheme were prescribed by regulations made in 1971, 1973 and 1975 under Section 59(3) of the Health Act 1970. There are no plans to extend the list of conditions covered by the scheme.
