To ask the Minister for Social Protection the number of young persons under 25 years of age, in receipt of jobseeker's benefit for less than six months; for more than six months and less than 12 months; for more than 12 months and less than 24 months; those in receipt of this payment for more than 24 months and less than 36 months; and those in receipt for more than 36 months; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 371 and 372 together.

The total number of young persons under 25 years of age in receipt of jobseeker’s allowance, or jobseeker’s benefit at the end of April was 61,787. A detailed breakdown by scheme and the durations specified by the Deputy is contained in the attached tabular statement.
