118. To ask the Taoiseach the target of his Department and subsidiary offices throughout the country regarding the employment of persons in the special category with disabilities and whether the target is being achieved; the total number of employees in that category currently and the percentage of the total work force in his Department that this represents; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Disability Act 2005 obliges all public sector organisations, including my Department and the National Economic and Social Development Office (NESDO), incorporating the National Economic and Social Council (NESC), which is the only statutory body under the aegis of my Department, to employ a minimum of 3% of staff with a disability. Both my Department and NESDO currently meet the statutory requirement in this regard. There are currently 212 (headcount) employees in my Department, 12 (6%) of whom have voluntarily disclosed a disability.
