I am to advise the Deputy that policy on the placement of prisoners in shared accommodation is being developed as part of a comprehensive Standard Operational Policy on Committal Procedures in the Irish Prison Service. This is part of the Irish Prison Service's Three Year Strategic Plan 2012-2015. It is hoped the policy will be implemented by the end of 2013.
