106. To ask the Minister for Health if he will confirm that all publicly funded hospitals, regardless of their form of patronage or nominal religious denomination, are and will be required to provide treatments permissible under the law and that it will be unlawful for such hospitals, as institutions, to deny such treatments as required for the lives, health and well-being of patients; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy may wish to note Head 12 of the General Scheme of the Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill 2013 which provides a right to conscientious objection to health professionals. However, this right does not extend to institutions. It is the intention of the legislation that women will be able to access treatments permissible under the law.
