To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the reason safe pass tickets for various courses on construction and other sites do not last for up to three or four years as is the case in many other countries in view of the fact that it is putting on undue burden on people who are not in employment to continue to pay to have these updated on a more regular basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed that the FÁS Safe Pass registration cards are valid for four years. Applicants must retake the one-day programme to renew their card.
