To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government in order to build greater trust and collaboration between the local government and local development sectors, if he will consider establishing a position for a staff representative of the local development companies on the Alignment Implementation Working group; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I established the Alignment Working Group to advise on the implementation of the new arrangements for an enhanced alignment between the local government and local development sectors. T he Group comprises representatives from the City and County Managers Association, the Irish Local Development Network and Pobal, as well as my Department.

The Irish Local Development Network has three places on the Working Group and it is a matter for that body to s elect its nominees to fill these positions. It is the responsibility of the representatives from each sector to consult with their nominating bodies and other relevant stakeholders as part of this process. Such a consultative approach by key partners to this change process can work to enhance trust and collaboration across the sectors.
