The Water Services Investment Programme 2010 - 2013 , a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library, contains a comprehensive list of all proposed new wastewater services infrastructure throughout the country. As part of the development of the Programme, local authorities carried out assessments of needs in 2009, to review and prioritise their proposals for new capital works, including wastewater treatment requirements, in their areas.

The feasibility of, and other planning decisions for, the construction of wastewater treatment plants other than those listed in the current programme are matters for the relevant local authority.
