To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the reason his Department is refusing to make public the submissions lodged to his Department in relation to the proposed licence sought by Bord Iscaigh Mhara for a fish farm in Galway Bay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Bord Iascaigh Mhara has submitted an application to my Department for an aquaculture and a foreshore licence for the cultivation of Finfish near Inis Oírr in Galway Bay. The application and its accompanying environmental impact statement are being considered in accordance with the provisions of the 1997 Fisheries (Amendment) Act and the 1933 Foreshore Act, as amended. The Public Consultation stage in respect of the aquaculture and foreshore licence application is now closed and a total of 410 valid submissions have been received by my Department. As the application is under active consideration as part of the statutory process, it would not be appropriate to publish the submissions in advance of a determination in respect of the case.
