To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government if there is any mechanism in place for a person whose motor tax lapsed whilst they were in hospital for an extended period of time and who now wants to re-tax the car excluding the months that they were in hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There is an administrative arrangement in place whereby the owner of a vehicle may be exempted from motor tax for any full month or months during which the vehicle has not been in use in a public place. The relevant form for completion is RF100A which is available for download from the Department’s website , from any motor tax office , and which should also be available from any Garda station.
