Domiciliary Care Allowance Application Numbers

To ask the Minister for Social Protection if she will indicate the total number of applications for domiciliary care allowance currently on hand; the likely timescale within which it is expected that a decision will be made; the degree, if any, to which she can speed up the processing of such cases; and if she will make a statement on the matter. There are currently 706 new domiciliary care allowance (DCA) applications awaiting decision. This equates to approximately 7 weeks intake of applications. New applications for DCA are being decided within the Department’s 8 week processing target for this scheme.
