To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the reason the Waterways Feasibility Study was not carried out in 2012 as previously suggested. [9956/13]

I assume the Deputy is referring to the feasibility study of an extension of the Longford Branch of the Royal Canal.

I can confirm to the Deputy that the Waterways Ireland Corporate Plan for the period 2011-2013, which has been approved by the North/South Ministerial Council, states that Waterways Ireland will complete the feasibility study of an extension of the Longford Branch of the Royal Canal with a target date of December 2013. I understand that work is on target in this regard.
