To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform in view of a reoccurring flooding problem in Sneem, County Kerry which affects a number of properties and actually endangers public safety, if funding will be provided to carry out the work; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Following an examination and inspections, the OPW has identified mitigation measures that may provide a solution to the flooding problem in Sneem. The OPW will carry out further analysis of the viability and effectiveness of these measures over the Summer including preliminary quantification of their costs and benefits with a view to discussing with Kerry County Council the appropriate way to proceed. The provision of funding for any agreed mitigation measures will be considered at that point, having regard to the overall availability of funding for flood risk management.
