Renard Pier is owned by Kerry County Council and responsibility for its repair and maintenance rests with the Local Authority in the first instance.

My Department provides funding for the development and repair of Local Authority owned piers and slipways as part of the Fishery Harbour and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme.

In the context of the 2013 Programme, which is currently under consideration, I invited coastal Local Authorities, including Kerry County Council, to submit applications in order of priority for qualifying projects. Kerry County Council did not submit an application for funding of works at Renard Pier for 2013.

Any application submitted by Kerry County Council in respect of Renard Pier under the Capital Programme in future years will be given consideration based on Exchequer funding and overall national priorities.
