To ask the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs the manner in which checks are carried out by social workers to ensure that individuals nominated as referees for foster parent applicants are persons of good character and that they in fact themselves are in a position to provide references as to the good character of the applicant foster parents; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
