I would like to thank the Deputy for the information provided in relation to the proposed Springboard Innovation Academy Business Hub.

Higher education institutions have an important role to play in developing Ireland's innovative capacity, and supporting the development of new ideas and products. Over the last numbers of years, institutions have developed specific programmes in innovation and entrepreneurship and, with support from Enterprise Ireland, a network of innovation centres and technology transfer offices has been established across the higher education sector. These centres and offices provide expert advice, business supports, tailored facilities and access to businesses and investors. The continuation and further development of these facilities and supports is an important element in our pursuit of a knowledge-based economy.
