The Criminal Justice (Spent Convictions) Bill 2012 passed Second Stage in the Seanad on 30 January 2013 and is being dealt at Report Stage today.

As the Deputy will appreciate, the Spent Convictions Bill is of interest to many people, including those who have convictions and those who have an interest in the rehabilitation of offenders. The Bill has been the subject of a number of considered and thoughtful submissions, including that of the Mercy Law Resource Centre, and I look forward to the debate on the Bill in this House in the coming months when these submissions will provide a valuable input to our deliberations.
