Student Grant Scheme Delays

To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if an application to Student Universal Support Ireland will be expedited and approved in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as all information requested has now been submitted. [1129/13]

Officials in my Department have confirmed with Student Universal Support Ireland that, in the case of the student referred to by the Deputy, a review of the application is currently being undertaken due to a change of circumstances. Further documentation may be required in support of the reassessment and SUSI will contact the applicant directly in that regard.

Officials in my Department have confirmed with Student Universal Support Ireland that on 3 January 2013, a request for further documentation was issued to the student referred to by the Deputy. When the requested documentation is returned the student will be notified directly of the outcome.

Students in third-level institutions experiencing exceptional financial need can apply for support under the Student Assistance Fund. Information on the fund is available through the Access Officer in the third level institution attended. The Access Officers themselves will also continue to provide support and advice to students to enable them to continue with their studies.
