To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the number of schools approved to go to construction in 2010, 2011 and 2012; the number of schools approved building extensions in 2010, 2011 and 2012; the number of each of these projects that have gone to consolidation over payment and the number of projects gone to arbitration over payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The number of schools which had major projects that commenced construction in 2010, 2011 and 2012 was 45, 65 and 39 respectively. All of these projects progressed under the new Public Works Contract(s). This form of contract includes a clause to allow the contracting parties (i.e. the Contractor or the Employer) to refer disputes to Conciliation and if necessary to Arbitration. Three of these projects were referred to conciliation. One of which was subsequently withdrawn from conciliation. To date none of these projects have been referred to arbitration. For the Deputy's convenience I have attached details of the projects.
