To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if his attention has been drawn to the funding difficulties associated with many small sports clubs, particularly in relation to a club (details supplied), and if, where available, Dublin City Council facilities can be provided at a discounted rate for clubs dealing with children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have recently announced grant allocations of €31 million for local, regional and national project under the 2012 Sports Capital Programme. The 2012 Sports Capital Programme is now closed and there are no more grants available at this time. It may be possible for clubs to raise funds via the ‘Tax Relief for Donations to Certain Sports Bodies’ scheme (section 847A of the Taxes Consolidation Act, 1997). This is a Revenue operated scheme which offers tax benefits to individuals or companies who make donations to the club. Further details on this scheme can be found on the Revenue Commissioners website. The prices that Dublin City Council charge for their facilities is a matter for Dublin City Council.
