To ask the Minister for Health the reason 400,000 home help hours were removed from the Health Service Executive 2012 Service Plan target in a technical adjustment thereby giving a target of 10.3 million hours instead of the 10.7 million hours originally announced; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the issue raised by the Deputy, which came to light in the context of finalising the HSE Service Plan 2013. This however did not contribute to any delay in agreeing the plan.

The original figure of 10.7 million Home Help hours was too high because of problems of data collection which have now been addressed. The figure of 10.3 million hours is in fact the correct one.
