To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the full extent of the budget at the disposal of the National Transport Authority; the way the Authority prioritises its work projects; the various agencies, statutory or otherwise the Authority consults with in the course of its spending on the various selected projects; the way the selection process is done; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport.  The National Transport Authority (NTA) was established on 1st December 2009 in accordance with the Dublin Transport Authority (DTA) Act 2008. In fulfilling its functions under the  Act, the Authority has a broad role in relation to transport planning, provision of public passenger transport services  as well as the provision of public transport infrastructure. The NTA consults with a range of stakeholders in carrying out these functions.

Given the Authority's responsibility in this regard, I have referred the Deputy's question to the NTA for direct reply.  Please advise my private office if you don't receive a reply within 10 working days.
