The Irish Sports Council, which is funded by my Department, is the statutory body with responsibility for the promotion, development and co-ordination of sport, including increasing participation at all levels and the promulgation of guidelines and codes of practice to facilitate standards of good conduct and fair play in sport. The Irish Sports Council has been actively engaged on improving the sport environment for young people through the comprehensive implementation of the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Young Peoples Sport in Ireland. To date more than 35,000 people have completed basic training in the Code. I have referred the Deputy's question to the Irish Sports Council for a more detailed response. I would ask the Deputy to inform my office if a reply is not received within 10 days.
