Taxi Regulations

To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he has any knowledge of plans to remove the taxi rank on the island of O'Connell Street, Dublin, outside a hotel (details supplied). [51405/12]

Under Section 15 of the Road Traffic Act, 2002, Dublin City Council, in consultation with the Commissioner of An Garda Síochána, is responsible for the making of bye-laws in respect of the area comprising of the city of Dublin, including bye-laws regarding the location of taxi ranks.

Further information in relation to the taxi rank in question might be obtained from Dublin City Council directly or through the offices of my colleague, the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government.
