To ask the Minister for Finance the total number of litres of motor fuel, petrol and diesel, sold in the State in the five most recent years for which figures are available; the total amount of State revenue directly generated by these sales; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Please note that the VAT receipts are estimated, as the VAT returns do not require the yield from a particular sector or sub-sector of trade to be identified and the actual VAT yield for each category cannot therefore be determined.
