To ask the Minister for Social Protection the sectors of the public sector that are currently employed on a roster basis and if there are any plans to remove employees from the rostering system. [49077/12]

The only areas of my Department where staff attend on a roster basis are the Operations and Control sections of the Department’s IT Division. The roster arrangements are necessary to facilitate overnight processing of claims, generation of payments to the Department’s customers and ongoing maintenance of the Department’s various IT systems.

There are no plans to change the existing arrangements in respect of the areas in question.
