To ask the Minister for Social Protection the position regarding a carer's allowance application in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; if she will provide a timeframe as to when it is likely a decision will issue and the reason the application is taking so long to process; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I confirm that the department received an application for carer’s allowance from the person in question on the 9th January 2012. The application has been examined by a deciding officer who has sent a request to the person in question for further information needed to process the application. Once all the necessary information has been returned to the department, a deciding officer will process the application and a full decision will issue directly to the person in question.
