To ask the Minister for Social Protection the total number of persons in receipt of the jobseeker's allowance aged 18 to19, 20 to 21, 22 to 24; the number aged 18 to 19, 20 to 21, 22 to 24; broken down by county; the total amount spent on jobseeker's allowance on 18 to 24 year olds; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The information requested by the Deputy in relation to expenditure and county of residence is not collated by my Department. I am however, informed that at the end of September 2012, there were 295,526 people in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance. 59,854 of these were aged between 18 and 24 years. I attach a table detailing the breakdown of this number by age for the Deputy’s information.
