To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the voted capital expenditure allocated to each Department for 2012; the amount of that funding that has been spent by the end of September 2012; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [46998/12]

The voted capital expenditure allocation for each Department in 2012 is published in the Revised Estimates for Public Services 2012 and is also available in the statistical databank on my Department's website at .

Information in relation to net capital expenditure to end September is published in the End September Exchequer Statement, details of which can be found on my Department's website and on the website of the Department of Finance. Total net capital expenditure to end September was €1,706m which is 13.6% behind the published profile. This is not unusual as, unlike current, capital expenditure tends to occur in large tranches at fixed milestones. The actual roll-out of capital expenditure is a matter for line Departments, operating within the delegated sanction arrangements issued by my Department that cover not only capital investment this year but contractual commitments for the next three years. It is expected that capital expenditure will fall generally within profile by the end of the year.
