To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the cost in 2011 to his Department and to each body under the aegis of his Department of implementing the Official Languages Act 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [44474/12]

My Department spent €6,513 in 2011 on implementing the Official Languages Act 2003.  This cost does not include internal staff time spent on ad hoc tasks involving the Irish  language.  Such a figure would be both small and very difficult to quantify.

The cost to agencies under the aegis of my Department is a matter for the agencies themselves. The Deputy's Question will be forwarded to them for direct response. If you do not hear back within 10 working days please contact my private office.
