To ask the Minister for Health the date on which he plans to publish the National Overdose Prevention Strategy in order that a concerted and strategic effort can be made to reduce the current level of non-fatal and fatal overdoses here; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [44192/12]

The Working Group to Develop an Overdose Prevention Strategy presented its draft report to the HSE earlier this year. I understand that this report is being considered by the HSE and that a financial impact assessment of the implications of some of the recommendations is being carried out. It is anticipated that the draft report, with the views of the HSE in relation to the recommendations therein, will be communicated to me shortly. Publication of the report will be considered at that time.
