To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government if he has had contact with the Housing Finance Agency with regard to whether, as suggested by the pyrite panel, they will be considering providing money or resources for testing homes for heave inducing pyrite, when such homes have been provided through funding by the agency under council affordable housing schemes. My Department is currently progressing the implementation of the recommendations in the pyrite report and, as part of the implementation process will consider what role, if any, that the Housing Finance Agency may have in assisting homeowners who have purchased homes under the affordable homes scheme. However, it should be noted that the Housing Finance Agency does not provide retail loan finance nor is it a member of the Irish Banking Federation, and the recommendation in the pyrite report refers to mortgage providers who are members of that body.
