To ask the Minister for Finance the amount of money that would be yielded for the Exchequer if a €1 excise duty was applied to every bottle of wine and 50 cent to every packet of cigarettes in Budget 2013; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [41430/12]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that it is estimated that a €1 increase in excise duty on a bottle of wine would yield in the region of €59.8m and that a 50 cent increase in excise duty on a packet of cigarettes would yield in the region of €81.3m.
