Departmental Staff Remuneration

To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will publish details of all allowances paid to staff in his Department; the business case made by his Department in respect of these allowances to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform; the cost of each individual allowance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The list of allowances and rates payable to staff in my Department are as set out in the table below. These are classified as allowances in the nature of pay and are subject to income tax and other deductions. Certain allowances cannot be paid in combination with other allowances, for example an on-call allowance is not payable to staff in receipt of shift allowance etc.
The business cases made in respect of these allowances are available from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform website (www.per.gov.ie) and are divided into common allowances available throughout the Civil Service and allowances specific to technical grades within my Department.
