Following an engineering assessment, it has been found necessary to replace three of the existing pedestrian footbridges at the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre.
The Office of Public Works is currently on site and has commenced work assembling a temporary bridge, which will be used while the permanent bridges are being replaced. It is expected that two of the bridges will be replaced before the end of this year. Work will re-commence in June 2013 on the remaining bridge requiring attention. This work will have to be undertaken when there is maximum daylight and when the visitor centre is closed, as it will involve a crane swinging concrete structures into place across the river. There will be no curtailment of services to the visiting public while these works are being undertaken and the centre will remain fully open throughout.
