Garda Retirements

To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of Gardaí by rank who have retired to date in 2012; the number of Gardaí by rank who have applied to retire before the end of 2012; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [39572/12]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the number of Gardaí, by rank, who have left the force this year up to 31 August and who have declared their intention to leave from 1 September to 31 December is as set out in the table hereunder:-
