My Department has not engaged agency staff. In respect of bodies under the aegis of my Department I have been informed by the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) that they have employed agency staff in the current year. In the year to date the costs to the NTMA of employing temporary agency staff are €200,000. The NTMA employs agency staff generally for administration roles, primarily to replace staff on maternity leave or to fill a break between an employee leaving a permanent role and a new permanent staff member being recruited.
