The table shows the number of staff in the Department within each of the salary ranges as t 1 July 2011 and 1 July 2012, the numbers of those who are expected to receive an increment in 2012, almost half of all staff, and an estimate of the gross cost of those additional increments in 2012. The increase in numbers is primarily due to the transfer of almost 1,100 former Community Welfare service staff into the Department on 1 October 2011 and over 700 former FÁS staff into the Department on 1 January 2012.
