Question 321: To ask the Minister for Social Protection if a disability allowance appeal in respect of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 15 can be expedited; the reason for the undue delay in their file being forwarded by the Department to the Appeals Office; if an urgent oral hearing will be granted; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that the Disability Allowance appeal for the person concerned was withdrawn on 27th June 2012 on the basis of a revised decision.
The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions on social welfare entitlements.
