Question 435: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of learner drivers that have been prosecuted since the introduction of the new learner permit regulations in 2007 whereby they must be accompanied by a qualified driver; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30614/12]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the following table shows the number of proceedings commenced against persons for failing to be accompanied by a qualified driver, contrary to the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations 1999 and 2006, for the period 2007 to 22 June 2012:
