Question 362: To ask the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources the extent to which burglar alarm or other intruder alert systems in the commercial or domestic sectors continue to exist without the benefits of wireless or digital backup; if the Regulator has made any specific enquiries in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The provision of burglar alarm or other intruder alert systems is a matter for the private marketplace. Neither my Department nor the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) has any role in monitoring the benefits of technologies deployed in the alarm industry.
