Question 284: To ask the Minister for Social Protection if she will provide a breakdown of the number of parents currently in receipt of child benefit where their children are not resident here; the related cost to the State for 2011 and to date in 2012; and if she will make a statement on the matter. There are currently 4,913 customers in receipt of Child Benefit in respect of a total of 7,744 children who are resident elsewhere in the EU. The total cost of payments to this category in 2011 was €13m. The cost of payments to this category in 2012 to date is €6.5m.
