The Deputy will be aware that my colleague the Minister for Health asked the HSE to carry out a viability review of all public long-term residential facilities for older people focusing on a number of areas including the unit's ability to meet HIQA Standards in terms of environmental structures, staffing availability, location and stock etc. This review will then form the basis for discussions between the Department and HSE with a view to a final submission of a set of proposals to the Minister. The submission referred to by the Deputy will be considered in the context of the review.
