The criteria used for the allocation of teachers to schools is published annually on my Department's website. The key factor for determining the level of staffing resources provided at individual school level is the staffing schedule for the relevant school year and pupil enrolments on the previous 30 September. The staffing schedule for the 2012-2013 school year, Circular 0007/2012 is available on my Department's website. The school referred to by the Deputy submitted an appeal which was considered at the April meeting of the Primary Staffing Appeals Board. The appeal by this school was unsuccessful on the basis that the school did not meet the published appeal criteria. The Board of Management of the school has been notified accordingly. The Appeals Board operates independently of the Department and it's decision is final.
