Question 252: To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if he will review the decision to refuse emergency funding to a school (details supplied) in County Kildare; his views on any other means by which this school might access funds for the works necessary to ensure the health and safety of its students and staff; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The school referred to by the Deputy submitted an application for funding under my Department's Emergency Works Scheme to carry out fencing works at their school. As the scope of works for which funding is sought is outside the terms of the scheme it cannot be considered for funding. The school authority has been informed of this decision. The school may wish to consider submitting a scaled down application to address the immediate health & safety issue.
