There is no provision for Prison Service staff to transfer directly to An Garda Síochána.

Recruitment to An Garda Síochána is governed by statutory regulations, namely the Garda Síochána (Admission & Appointments) Regulations 1988/2005. The maximum recruitment age as set out in those regulations is 35 years of age.
