As the Deputy is aware the Board of the bank is responsible for the day to day operation of the bank including the staffing, general pay rates and expenses incurred by bank staff in the performance of their duties.

I have been informed by the bank that staff numbers and associated costs are detailed in the Bank's accounts on an annual and interim basis, the most recent being the 2011 Annual Report & Accounts. The Bank does not further breakdown details of staff numbers in terms of grade and corresponding remuneration. I have also been informed by the bank that total staff costs costs in the organisation have reduced by 48% from end 2008 to end 2011 and this includes 6 months of additional cost resulting from the merger with INBS in 2011.

In terms of travel, accommodation and other related expenses the bank has informed me that such costs have decreased from c. €6.7m in 2008 to c. €1.2m in 2011, a percentage decrease of c. 82%.
