As Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. Following the establishment of the National Transport Authority (NTA) on December 2009, the implementation and development of infrastructure projects in the greater Dublin area (GDA), such as Hansfield train station, comes under the remit of the NTA. Noting this I have referred the Deputy's question to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.

Notwithstanding the above, I understand that agreements on the various land issues have now been concluded between Iarnród Éireann, Fingal County Council and the relevant developers/their representatives which will facilitate the construction of the access road. Subject to the successful award of the tender for construction of the access road by Iarnród Éireann and funding being provided by the NTA I would expect that construction will commence before the end of this year which will facilitate the opening of the station.
