Details of the number of temporary social worker posts in the area of child and family services for each month since 1 January 2011 are listed below in tabular form. The HSE has confirmed that these posts are included in the total whole time equivalent social worker posts for each of these months.

Question 814: To ask the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs if the Health Service Executive includes social workers currently on maternity or temporary leave from their employment in HSE figures given in response to Parliamentary Question replies seeking the number of whole time equivalent social workers employed in child and family services; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The HSE compiles a monthly census of employment in the public health and social care sector. The census provides a snapshot of staff who are on the payroll on the day that the census is compiled. Therefore any staff who are on the payroll on that date are included in the census returns. This would include staff on paid maternity and other leave.
